For her third solo show at the gallery LJ, American artist Allyson Mellberg introduces us into her intimate and poetic universe. The planet of doubt is populated with androgynous and hybrid creatures, floating gracefully on the paper sheets’ surfaces. These works on paper illustrate the artist’s special relationship to nature and diseases, which are themes she obsessively returns to in her work. A soft and melancholic atmosphere emanates from the delicate palette – based on natural substances – and contrasts with unexpected motifs, rich in symbols. This exhibition will most certainly put you under the spell!
